Notes on Under 9, 10 & 11 Challenge Cup Set Floor video without bonuses.
This video gives a visual idea of how the sequence should be performed. It is only an aid and the detailed wording in the rules should be referred to.
Good posture with tension for 3 seconds.
This is held for 3 seconds and shows good tension and posture. This gymnast should have started 2 metres from the edge of the mat.
Spin 180° x 2.
The 180⁰ spin is performed on her toes with free leg high and toe to knee, finishing in front with the foot turned out. The back foot is extended with the toe pointed behind on the floor. Arms in a high V position above her head. She then repeats this skill, on the same leg, to complete a 360⁰ rotation. The arms are optional in the spin, but must finish in a high V position above the head. This gymnast could stretch more in the final position so that her arms are above her head.
Forward Roll.
She performs the forward roll with straight legs and finishes with her arms in a high V position above her head.
Cartwheel ¼ turn inwards, Star Jump.
She performs a cartwheel ¼ turn, landing her feet together and then a Star Jump. The requirement allows for a pause before the star jump. As this gymnast performed the Star Jump immediately, she would receive a bonus. She does not land with her feet together after the star jump, so she will receive a deduction. This gymnast stretches up after the star jump, this is optional.
ChasséCatleap, Cartwheel ¼ turn inward to lunge.
The chassé is performed with arms in a low V position, but the arms are not in a “ring” position above the head in the catleap, which will receive a deduction. The knees are high in the catleap, but she does not travel, which will receive a deduction. She finishes in a lunge with arms in a high V above her head, but her lunge could be deeper. The possible reason for her not travelling in the catleap could have been due to her being too close to the edge of the mat as she did not start 2 metres from the edge.
Forward roll to pike sit.
She has her legs straight once her feet have left the floor, and she finishes with her back straight in the pike sit. But her arms are above her head, and then she slowly takes them down to a forward position, parallel to the floor. Ideally, this should be done more quickly to avoid a possible deduction.
Pike Fold.
She does not raise her arms above her head before reaching forward into the Pike Fold, so she will receive a deduction. She does hold the fold for 3 seconds with her hands on the floor by her feet, but her arms are bent, so she will receive another deduction.
Back Support to Front Support.
She does not properly show the pike position before going into the back support, so she will receive a deduction. She holds the Back support for 3 seconds with fingers facing the toes. As she turns to the Front Support, she rotates the supporting hand and shows the Side Support with her free arm in the air. Ideally, her feet should be on top of each other so she will receive a small deduction. She then holds the Front Support for 3 seconds with her fingers facing forward. As this gymnast showed the Side Support, she will receive a bonus.
In the Front Support, it is optional if the toes are flat on the floor or curled under.
Tucked Headstand.
From the Front Support, she does not lower her knees to the floor and sit back on her heels. Instead, she slides her knees forward to sit on her heels. She will receive a deduction for this. She goes into a tucked headstand position and holds it for 3 seconds before returning to her feet and standing with her arms above her head in a high V position. There are a couple of wobbles in the headstand, which will receive a deduction.
Tucked Backward roll.
She performed a tucked backward roll with feet together, finishing with her arms in a high V position above her head. The legs may be bent or straight during the roll.
Straight Jump 180°.
She steps forward and joins her feet together before the straight jump 180⁰ and finishes with her arms in a high V position above her head. She will receive a deduction for lack of stretch and height in the jump, but she did land securely, so she would receive a bonus.
The arms are optional before, during and after the jump.
This video was filmed during a training session. In a competition, this gymnast would receive a deduction for her hair, for the wording on her shorts and for her knee support not being skin coloured.
